Corby death not believed to be related to robbery incident, police say

The death of a man in Corby is not believed to be linked to a robbery in the same street earlier that day, police have confirmed.

Today (Sunday) officers remain at the scene in Snatchill Close, near Applegarth Close, after the body of a man was found in the street at about 11.50pm on Friday, April 30.

Neighbours have spoken of their shock with the incident happening on the same day that a teenager was robbed in Snatchill Close, leading to some questioning whether the incidents were connected.

But this afternoon a police spokesman said they do not believe the two incidents to be related.

Police and paramedics raced to the residential street late on Friday night with a cordon in place since the man's death.

It is currently being treated as unexplained and an investigation is taking place to establish how he died.

Forensics officers have been at the scene with officers conducting door-to-door enquiries.

One neighbour said: "It's usually quite quiet round here.

"We didn't hear any shouting or anything at the time (of the death).

"We're all just playing Miss Marple at the minute."

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

A force spokesman said: "Anyone who may have been in Snatchill Close between 10pm and 11.50pm on Friday night and who hasn’t spoken to police is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
