Police seized drugs worth £8.5million from a vehicle near Northampton on Friday night.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman revealed officers arrested a 29-year-old Essex man after discovering the massive cocaine haul in the vehicle on the M1, near to junction 15.

John Taylor, of Pitsea, appeared at Northampton Magistrates' Court on Sunday charged with possession with intent to supply a class A drug.

He was remanded in custody until July 9 when he will appear before a judge at Northampton Crown Court.

A 29-year-old woman, also arrested on Friday, has been released under investigation by police.
