The cannabis factory was discovered in the property in Mapperley Drive, Billing, by officers executing a Misuse of Drugs Act warrant on Friday (June 5).

Officers who made the "significant" find reckon the plans would be worth "hundreds of thousands of pounds".

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: "A significant number of cannabis plants were discovered. The 15-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis has been released under investigation pending further enquiries."

This was the second major raid in eight days by the Northamptonshire force.

Last month, officers from the crack Operation Viper team swooped on five properties in the St David's area of the town, seizing thousands of pounds-worth of Class A drugs and a quantity of Class B drugs.
