Bike stolen by gang after man threatened at knifepoint in Northampton

A gang of men stole a bike after they threatened the owner at knifepoint in Northampton.

The victim was riding his Specialized Rock Hopper Pro bike in Vernon Walk in Northampton town centre on Tuesday, July 12, between 6.30pm and 6.45pm, when he was approached by a group of men. One of them punched him in the head and another produced a knife, demanding he hand over his bike.

The victim dropped the bike in fear and one of the offenders got on to it and rode off into Stockley Street, right into St Edmunds Road and then left onto Wellingborough Road.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said the man who ride off on the bike is described as mixed race. He was wearing a grey tracksuit. The offender who punched the victim is described as white, 18 to 20-years-old, wearing a blue top and grey tracksuit bottoms.

The stolen bike is a Specialised Rock Hopper Pro in golden/ brown.
