Arson attacker sets light to laundry outside Northampton property

Police are investigating a case of arson in Northampton after some laundry was set on fire.

The washing had been left on a rail to dry outside a property in Drayton Walk, Kingsthorpe on Saturday evening (May 23).

But detectives believe they were set on fire deliberately and the resulting blaze caused significant damage to the property.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: "We believe someone has deliberately set fire to the items of clothing between 8.30pm and 8.45pm on Saturday.

"Fortunately no one was injured as a result of the incident and the fire was put out safely. However significant heat damage was caused to the front door and drain pipe.

"If there is anyone with information or even may have witnessed this incident, please call us on 101 quoting reference number 20000262828."
