Police are investigating a brawl involving baseball bats and glass bottles near to Northampton town centre on Wednesday night.

Officers including Armed Response teams rushed to Barrack Road after a 999 call reporting large groups fighting close to Northampton International Academy school.

Witnesses spotted some of the group using bats, wooden sticks and bottles.

The brawlers quickly fled as police arrived but officers are appealing for information and issued a description of one man they want to find.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: "The main aggressor is described as a white man, of slim build, with short dark hair, aged between 30 and 40.

"Investigations into the incident are ongoing and we would urge anyone with information or may have witnessed what went on — or maybe passing motorists who have dashcam footage — to please call us on 101."
