Armed police officers were immediately deployed due to the assessed threat and quickly located the car in question which failed to stop for them.

After a short pursuit, the car was stopped in Abington Square. One of the people, a 21-year-old man, was immediately arrested, while two others - boys aged 16 and 17, made off and were arrested a short time later.

Detectives are now appealing for help from the public to come forward if they have any information, CCTV or dashcam footage which might identify who was driving the car.

Anyone with information should contact Northamptonshire Police on 101.

The 21-year-old man, 17-year-old boy and 16-year-old boy have all been released on bail pending further enquiries.
