110 arrests made in month-long crackdown on drink driving during festive period in Northamptonshire
As a month-long crackdown on drink driving in Northamptonshire finishes, the total number of arrests made has been released by police.
On December 1, Northamptonshire Police launched its annual campaign against drink and drug driving, where by anyone caught caught driving over the legal limit will be publicly named on the force website, social media and this newspaper.
The campaign runs for four weeks until January 1, to cover the whole Christmas and New Year period.
Detective Chief Inspector Shelley Nichols said: “We do not take the decision to continue to name all drivers charged with drink driving lightly, however for anyone who does not want to be included on this list the message is simple – do not drink and drive.”

The results of the full campaign are now in. Northamptonshire Police says 110 drivers were arrested. Of those, 87 were on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol and 23 were in relation to drug driving.
