Conference highlights economic benefit of Northamptonshire’s links with royalty

Northamptonshire Heritage Week runs from today until the end of this week. The conference at Boughton House includes many of the sectors’ foremost leading lights in the UK taking part.

All this week, historic houses and sites in Northamptonshire will be opening their doors to showcase their special moments in history.

Visitors from around the UK have booked their place in advance to explore Rockingham Castle, Prebendal Manor, Canons Ashby, Fotheringhay Village, Kirby Hall, Holdenby House and Boughton House, and to gain exclusive insights into their unique place in English history; the stories of a Millennium of Monarch Making countywide.

The Millennium of Monarch Making campaign will focus on Northamptonshire’s links with Kings and Queens; the county having witnessed the birth of Richard III, the death of Mary Queen of Scots and the capture and imprisonment of Charles I to name but a few key m oments.

Northamptonshire’s rich history and central location has created an enviable legacy of historic houses, more than any other county in England. This combined with the county’s easily accessible location provides an excellent opportunity to place the county firmly on the heritage map through this week-long celebration.
