Caroline Chisholm tops Northampton school league tables but two schools fell below '˜floor standard'

Caroline Chisholm School has topped the GCSE results league tables in Northampton, figures released this morning have revealed, though two town schools fell below the floor pass rate standard.

A total of 80 per cent of Key Stage 4 pupils at the Wootton-based school achieved five A* to C grades, including English and maths, during the latest national exams taken in summer 2015.

However Weston Favell Academy and the Malcolm Arnold Academy in Trinity Avenue, Northampton, both fell below the “floor standard” of 40 per cent.

In total 37 per cent of pupils at Malcom Arnold gained the five A* to C standard, including maths and English.

However 66 per cent of Malcolm Arnold pupils made the “expected progress” in maths, the figures revealed.

At Weston Favell Academy only 30 per cent achieved the five A* to C benchmark.

A total of 329 state funded schools across the UK fell below the 40 per cent five A* to C pass rate in 2015, representing 11 per cent of state-funded mainstream schools in the UK.
