Campaigners in Northamptonshire show how warehouses would obliterate their views

Canny campaigners have demonstrated the mass of warehouses proposed for near their homes using a crane.

Villagers living in Milton Malsor and Blisworth have been left frustrated by attempts to get artist’s impressions of the scale of the Rail Central development proposal despite the ongoing consultation events.

So the Stop Rail Central group hired a banner-draped crane and extended it to the estimated height of the buildings, some of which will be mere metres away from people’s back doors.

Mark Redding, of Stop Rail Central, said: “Many local residents have expressed disappointment that Rail Central have failed to help them visualise what massive 18 metre high warehouses will look like when dumped in the middle of a rural environment.

“We just thought it would be a good idea to at least show how tall these massive buildings would be.”

The eight million square foot site would effectively join Northampton to Blisworth, which is currently two miles away.

Villagers living at the very edge of the site fear their home lives will be devastated, however they are not guaranteed to be compulsorily purchased and may end up saddled with an ‘un-sellable’ house.
