Campaigners against massive rail depot near Northampton launch fighting fund

Villagers who fear an eight million square foot rail depot will be built next to their home are encouraging donations to help defeat the plan.

Stop Rail Central is looking at ways that people living in Blisworth and Milton Malsor can argue against the Rail Central scheme that is being championed by developers Ashfield Land.

They are now looking at ways of funding their efforts, which are all being carried out by volunteers.

A spokesman said: “The types of activity that the fund might pay for include campaign materials, posters, stickers and information leaflets.

“Professional advice, such as a planning consultant to lead the group’s defence or, if need be, legal advice to support a judicial review may be supported through the fighting fund cash.”

Stop Rail Central also said that it may use the donations to support other organisations fighting the same cause.

When Stop Rail Central Limited is wound up it, it promises to give any regular donors six week’s notice to allow time for regular payments to be cancelled.

Thereafter, after all bills are settled, general funds will be equally distributed to charity.
