A motorbike rider has been taken to hospital with a suspected broken arm after colliding with an HGV in Northampton on Wednesday (May 20).

Police reported the smash happened at around 11.30am on the A428 Bedford Road.

An air ambulance was initially called but the casualty was taken to Northampton General Hospital.

Today's smash was close to the spot near the Little Houghton turn-off where a 72-year-old bike rider died following a crash on Friday.

The pensioner was riding towards Northampton when his 1,000cc Yamaha FZS was in collision with a Jaguar F-Pace heading in the same.

Northamptonshire's Serious Collisions Unit launched an appeal for information or witnesses following Friday's fatal crash.
