Arson warning after three fires in same Northampton spot in space of 24 hours

Police believe three fires in 24 hours in the same area of Northampton parkland were all started deliberately.

Firefighters from Mereway dealt with the first blaze at Grange Spinney, close to Wake Way, at around 8.48am yesterday (Thursday June 4) when two logs, approximately one metre in length, were set on fire.

The same station dealt with a second fire in nearby School Lane at 8.41pm last night when another quantity of logs had to be extinguished using a hose reel.

A third fire was attended to in Grange Spinney at 8.27am after smouldering rubbish was reported.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue said: "These three fires are all believed have been started deliberately and have tied up vital emergency services. Arson is a crime!"
