Armed police surround house in Rothwell

Armed police were called to a house in Rothwell last night (Monday).

Police attended a house in Scott Avenue, Rothwell, at about 7pm yesterday following an ANPR hit in Northampton which alerted officers to a vehicle associated with a wanted man from London.

The individual in question was not located, but a scene guard remains in place at the property today (Tuesday).

A 53-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, but she has since been released with no further action.

A police spokesman said: “We understand that there were some community concerns regarding the significant police presence at the property yesterday.

“This was a precautionary measure and do not believe there to be any wider risk to the community.

“We will continue to assist our colleagues in the Met with their investigation today.”

Fire and several ambulance crews also attended the incident.
