An armed police stand-off took place in a village near Northampton this evening (Saturday, April 17).

Around 15 armed police officers surrounded a house in Northampton Road, Harpole, at around 6.15pm.

Three armed officers blocked off the back of the house while 12 were standing at the front, all armed with guns and police dogs.

All armed police units have now left the scene. One police car was still at the house at 8.05pm.

It is not yet known why officers were called to the scene. Northamptonshire Police have been contacted for further information.
