An Air Ambulance landed after a lorry overturned on the A43 Brackley bypass in high winds on Friday morning.
Police and Highways England have shut four miles of road and are advising traffic heading between Northamptonshire and the M40 to follow diversion signs.
The road is closed towards Brackley from the A421 to the BP garage on the A43, north of Brackley.
A Highways England spokesman said: "The A43 in Northamptonshire is closed northbound between the Barleymow roundabout and the B4525 due to an overturned lorry.
"Emergency services including Northamptonshire Police and the Air Ambulance Service are in attendance. Highways England Traffic Officers are also providing assistance with traffic management on scene.
"Diverted traffic should follow the solid square diversion symbol using the A421 eastbound, A413, A422 Stratford Road and the A5 to rejoin the A43 at Towcester."
