A well-established gift shop that has been open in Northampton for more than a decade has relocated.

Bias, which was located in Market Walk, previously called Peacock Place, has now taken up a unit in the lower mall of the Grosvenor Centre, opposite Pandora.

On Saturday (October 10), the move was completed by the current owners who have been at helm of the independent business since 2017 and have managed to keep going throughout the pandemic.

The local family from East Hunsbury hopes to be a part of the ‘revival of Northampton town centre’ in its new, prominent position.

Majid and Manigeh, the married owners who are both in their 60s, said: “The Grosvenor Centre is the heart of Northampton town centre and we are certainly hopeful that more Northamptonians will visit us here.

“We officially opened last weekend, and we were so pleased to see some familiar and new faces in the shop.

“Bias is the only novelty gift and home shop in the centre, so we hope to provide something unique for our customers and in these challenging times to add some joy and laughter to anyone visiting the shop.

“Whether it’s to show someone you’re thinking of them, or to honour and cherish

life’s milestones, Bias was designed to celebrate those special moments.”

Keeping a business alive during the pandemic has been challenging, but the owners are hopeful the move will help business thrive.

Majid added: “With new measures being enforced and reviewed, we are constantly monitoring our own precautionary actions to keep our customers and ourselves safe.

“It is an uncertain time and we are so grateful that our Northampton family continues to support us.

“With less shopping footfall across the country, we are certainly expecting challenging times like everybody else, but hopefully we can still help our customers find the perfect gifts and accessories.”

For new and returning customers, the couple is also gearing up to make sure they can assist with any festive shopping.

“We’re Christmas-crazy. We are already excited. It is early, but we just couldn’t help it,” Manigeh continued.

“It also occurred to us that shoppers may want to organise Christmas shopping ahead of uncertain times.

“There is of course a lot of uncertainty and we expect a reduced or staggered footfall as many of us are preferring to limit shopping trips outside the house.

“Nevertheless, Bias will be full of Christmas craze and fuzzy feelings during the Christmas season; and we hope to provide some joy to our Northampton family in these uncertain times.”
