Costa shuts at Northampton garden centre as company's own restaurant is extended

A nationwide coffee chain that had a branch inside a local garden centre has closed it for good.

Costa Coffee in Dobbies Garden Centre, Newport Pagnell Road, Wootton, has not been open for a number of months.

Dobbies began working on the area two weeks ago to create extra space for its own restaurant to allow for an 'enhanced customer experience'.

A spokeswoman for Dobbies said: "We have recently invested in our Northampton restaurant, to enhance the experience for customers and make the restaurant more spacious.

"The new approach at Northampton allows customers to be welcomed and seated by a team member, with their order taken at the table. Those who wish to order hot drinks or food to take-away may also do so.

"This new concept has proved successful in our other restaurants and we believe it will positively impact our customers in Northampton."

Costa has been contacted for comment, but did not respond before publication.

The branch no longer appears on Costa's online store search.
