READER REVIEW: Jersey Boys at Royal & Derngate

The feel good atmosphere within the auditorium and feel for the music will make you want to go and go again.

The show starts with a fast rap number then like a time warp you are transported back to the 1950s with four guys under a streetlamp. Now if you think the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons was unknown to you, think again.

With a string of hit records that most artists today have sampled and some classics that you will know such as Sherry, Big Girls don’t cry and can’t take My Eyes Off you.

Stand out performer is Matt Corner as Frankie Valli who had audience members gasping as soon as he opened his mouth. The range of the man was phenomenal and he received rapturous applause at the end of Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.

The whole cast was brilliant. This is really one to go and see. It brings you out of the theatre singing or humming the music.

Jersey Boys runs at Northampton’s Royal and Derngate until February 6.
