Think edgy, industrial, alternative vibes...

A former Northampton corn mill has been launched as the area's newest 'cool' wedding venue.

Duston Mill in Upton Way, is set on 20 acres of land and has a huge converted metal barn, which has previously been used for events.

The owners of the mill had been thinking about launching the site as wedding venue for some time, so decided to get a local wedding planning company - Complete Rose - on board.

After several months of work to make sure the location was up to scratch, the venue has today (November 1) been launched and couples can start planning their big days with this location in mind.

Hannah Rose, owner of Complete Rose and manager for weddings at Duston Mill, said: "While holding other events, people used to question whether it was a wedding venue, so the owners decided to go for it.

"It's so exciting as this is something a bit different and something alternative.

"We're saying we're bringing the Black Country to Northampton.

"In Birmingham, there are so many cool, industrial vibe wedding venues, but Northampton doesn't have that.

"The weddings will very much be in a relaxed environment for people who are maybe looking for a festival style wedding with street food.

"We're want to be as flexible as possible so we do have a recommended suppliers list, but couples can bring their own and it's the same with alcohol.

"They can have their own drink during the day without an corkage charge, but we do ask that they bring in a bar at night."

Bookings can be taken for 2021, but Hannah is advising clients to expect reduced numbers next year due to the pandemic.

Once restrictions are lifted, the venue will be able to hold 100 guests seated and up to 150 standing and the land can also be used for marquees and tepees.

The barn, which has copper ailments and black metal, is booked out on a set dry hire free, as is the land, which can be used for glamping for wedding guests.

Couples can book the land and barn together, or separately, for a set fee and Hannah is also working on packages to include suppliers too.

The photos below, from a styled shoot, show how the venue could look for a wedding. More information can be found on the Duston Mill website.
