Northamptonshire's Cora Homes awarded for commitment to climate education

Northamptonshire housebuilder becomes first in country to complete climate education course

Cora Homes is delighted to have become the first housebuilder to receive an award from the Royal Scottish Geographical Society (RSGS) for its commitment to climate education.

The award recognises the company’s senior management’s commitment to educating its staff about the climate emergency, with more than 90% of staff completing an RSGS Climate Solutions Course.

Cora Homes, which is based in Northamptonshire, has also pledged that all new staff members will receive this important training.

Matt Wright, Commercial Director at Cora Homes, said: “As a sustainable housebuilder, we understand the important role the construction sector has in tackling the climate emergency.

“We believe it is crucial our employees understand the science of climate change and how we can help protect the environment.

“Cora Homes are proud to receive this award and will continue to do all we can to play a role in combatting climate change.”

Cora Homes was presented with its Climate Solutions Corporate Completion Certification this month.

Mike Robinson, Chief Executive at the Royal Scottish Geographical Society (RSGS), said: “Cora Homes are one of the first organisations to receive this certificate and the only housebuilder.

“We were very impressed with the company’s commitment to climate education and action, particularly in that almost all staff have completed one of our climate courses with all senior staff undertaking the advanced professional course.

“On top of this, they have an ongoing commitment that all new staff take our climate courses too.

“Having an organisation like Cora Homes, a sustainable housebuilder that takes the climate emergency seriously and is taking action, is important.

“The more we, and companies like Cora, lead by example, the more people will be inspired to take action, as well as putting pressure on global leaders to tackle the climate emergency.

“Everybody has a part to play.”
