Created by leading not-for-profit housing association Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing, MY Resi Upton Square had a busy launch weekend on October 10, with a number of homes already reserved. But with more than 100 new homes on offer there is still plenty of choice available for those looking to move to this popular area on the peaceful outskirts of Northampton.

In total there are 49 one and two-bedroom apartments and three and four-bedroom homes available for private sale through the housing association’s MY Resi brand, many of them eligible for the Government’s Help to Buy Scheme. In addition, there are a further 54 affordable one, two, three and four-bedroom homes on offer, to residents of the Northampton area only, through Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing’s SO Resi shared ownership brand.

Using Help to Buy, first time buyers will be able to purchase a home with a low five per cent deposit, while taking out a 20% equity loan from the Government, interest-free for five years and a lower-cost 75% mortgage. With shared ownership an even smaller deposit is required, as you buy a share of your home with a smaller mortgage and make a monthly SO Resi payment that covers the part that you don’t own. You can buy additional shares in your home whenever you are ready.

Kush Rawal, director of residential investment at Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing, said: “We are committed to helping people put down roots in a home of their own, and Upton Square has something to offer whether you are upsizing, downsizing or taking your first steps into homeownership.

“All the homes are beautifully finished, with quality flooring, contemporary bathrooms and gloss white kitchens with a selection of integrated appliances. There is car parking on site, as well as safe bike storage, and all the houses and some of the apartments have their own private outdoor space in the form of a garden, balcony or terrace.”

Convenient location

The development is set in an ideal location just outside Northampton’s historic centre and a short stroll away from the newly opened Upton Country Park, with its wide stretches of open space, woodland and wetlands, paths and cycleways. Upton Meadows Primary School, rated Good by Ofsted, is also only a few minutes’ walk away, and there’s a bus stop right next to the homes that offers a regular service into the centre of town for high street shopping and an extended choice of restaurants, cafés and bars.

From Northampton’s Castle Street mainline station, hourly trains reach London Euston in less than 80 minutes and Birmingham in 65 minutes, opening up a wide range of commuting possibilities. For travel by car, the M1 is easily accessible, providing links to London, Milton Keynes and central England.

Leisure facilities

The local area has no shortage of leisure opportunities, from a cinema and bowling alley nearby to Franklin’s Gardens – the 15,000-seat stadium of Northampton Saints Rugby Union – and the popular Northampton Town FC, all just a short distance from the front door.

For peaceful downtime, green retreats and water are all around, with options including Delapré Abbey with a gorgeous lake where anglers can try their luck, 500 acres of parkland and wildlife-filled walks and an 18-hole public golf course. The smaller Sixfields Reservoir and Duston Mill Meadow nature reserves are within easy reach, while the Northampton Arm of the Grand Union Canal and the River Nene both offer a wide range of opportunities for walking and boating.

“Everything you need is close at hand,” adds Kush Rawal, “and the large windows and spacious open-plan design of these homes ensures that residents will have a great quality of life in a well-connected, up-and-coming part of town.”
