Residents comments are being sought on a new local centre for a large housing development near Northampton ahead of a planning application.

A public consultation has been launched on Saxon Park at the Overstone Leys development between Overstone and Moulton by Rothstone Estates and Peveril Securities.

The centre on land next to the A43 Kettering Road at the Sywell Road roundabout would include new shops, a petrol station with convenience shop, a coffee shop, a restaurant, a day nursery and offices/work space for businesses.

Rothstone Estates managing director Mark Rothery said: “The site is perfectly located to serve new and existing communities and will deliver a vibrant centre, which complements the supermarket and medical centre being provided elsewhere on the site.

“We have strong commitment from operators for a coffee shop, restaurant and petrol station with local convenience shop, which will serve as a catalyst by attracting operators for the rest of the local centre.

“We are keen to hear the views of the local community and whilst we would have preferred to hold a public exhibition event, due to the government restrictions around gatherings, we have launched a dedicated consultation website.

"I encourage as many people as possible to take a look at the proposals and provide their feedback.”

At the heart of the local centre will be a tree-lined pedestrian boulevard with new landscaping and attractive seating areas as well as generous landscaping, according to the developers.

The Overstone Leys 'sustainable urban extension' was agreed in 2015, including 2,000 homes, a school, a supermarket, a care home and a local centre.

Aldi was granted permission to build a branch on land next to where the local centre is earmarked to go.
