What Northampton town centre looks like on the evening pubs and restaurants reopen

From beer gardens, to perspex screens, it looks a bit different

After months of strict lockdown rules, the restrictions have eased slightly and businesses have been able to welcome back customers once again.

Pubs in Northampton have been preparing to welcome back eager punters for a number of weeks and today (July 4) it finally happened.

But it all looks a bit different.

Inside the pubs there are perspex screens, ordering on apps and social distancing, and outside there are pub queues dotted around and busier gardens.

Despite the tight guidelines that now come with a visit to the pub, local people still braved the new world for their favourite tipple and to be reunited with their drinking pals.

Although the town centre as a whole was not as busy as some may have expected.

From The Optimist, Thomas A Becket and The Cordwainer, here is what Northampton's popular pubs looked like on the evening of reopening.
