A team of well-respected gourmet chefs are launching a new restaurant service in a village pub.

Burnt Lemon Chefs, headed up by an award-winning local chef, will be taking over the restaurant at gastropub, Four Pears, in Bedford Road, Little Houghton next month.

When the pub reopened after the pandemic closure, the food aspect did not start back up, so the catering company approached the owners to take up the opportunity.

Burnt Lemon founder, James Peck, said: “We know the pub quite well and we have a lot of clients in the village.

“We want to put on our signature dishes and bring something different to that part of town.

“We want to blow the pub’s customers away with our Sunday lunches, Japanese food and street food in the courtyard.

“Our Japanese BBQ will be our unique selling point. There is nothing round here like that and I know the area is crying out for some good food.”

The new dinner service is set to launch on Sunday November 15, which James says sold out 90 minutes after it launched.

Cookery classes will also be held at the pub and James is even hoping to team up with a gin company in the near future to include gin tasting classes too.

He added: “Hopefully we will bring something special to the area.

“It’s good for us to be here as it’s helping us to adapt to the new times and only serving six people at a time.

“We will be in the pub for at least a year, so it will be more long term than a lot of what we do and if the support is there hopefully we will carry on.

“So far the support has been awesome and it has gone really well on social media.”

Once the partnership has launched in November, Burnt Lemon food will be served in the Four Pears from Tuesday dinner to Sunday lunch.
