A village pub that has seen the positive effects of a Government scheme to help recover the hospitality industry has extended the offer.

The Navigation Inn, in Thrupp Wharf, near Cosgrove has chosen to continue the Eat Out to Help Out scheme for the whole of September.

Although the scheme will no longer be funded by the Government, the pub, which is run by Oakham Inns, wants to maintain momentum gained throughout August.

Oakham Inns CEO, Dermot King, said: “There is no doubt that the Eat Out to Help Out scheme has been a major factor in helping us get back on our feet after several months without any revenue at all.”

Although the company is grateful for the scheme, it is looking for continued support from the Government.

Dermot added: “It has been a very encouraging start, but the road to recovery is going to be a very long one and it is going to take much more than a few months of offers to get the hospitality sector back to where it was before lockdown.”

The company is calling for a review on VAT, as well as the business rates system.

In the meantime, customers will be able to enjoy 50 percent off food and soft drinks up to £10 off per person from Monday to Wednesday, including breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner.
