Northampton pub landlords share heartfelt goodbye after two-and-a-half years – as they take over popular pub nearby
The landlords of a popular pub in Northampton have announced they are stepping down after two-and-a-half years in charge – but have revealed they are already behind the bar at another venue just down the road.
Frazer and Hayley Francis, who have been running The Longboat since 2023, shared an emotional message with customers as they confirmed their departure from the pub.
They said: “After two and a half unforgettable years at the Longboat, the time has come for us to say goodbye – and it isn’t easy.
“This journey has meant more to us than words can ever fully express. What started as a new chapter quickly became something so much bigger.

“We’ve met the most incredible people, made lifelong friends, and shared countless moments filled with laughter, stories, and memories we will cherish forever.
“Every single one of you has been part of that journey. Your support, kindness, and loyalty have carried us through these past two and a half years, and we honestly couldn’t have done it without you.
“The Longboat isn’t just a place to us… it’s been a community, a home, and a huge part of our lives.
“Saying goodbye is heartbreaking, but we know it’s time for us to take on a new challenge and start the next chapter.
“No matter where we go, we’ll carry these memories and all of you with us. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for everything. We will never forget it.”
At the bottom of the heartfelt message, the couple added: “Hopefully you can pop in every now and then to see us at our new pub – The Sevens down the road.”
In a second post they wrote: “We’ve officially taken over at the Sevens and we are ready for this new chapter.
“This is more than just a fresh start – it’s the beginning of something special. New faces, new friendships, big laughs, and unforgettable memories… we can’t wait to experience it all with you.
“We’re bringing the energy, the good times, and plenty of reasons to keep coming back. Doors are open – let’s make The Sevens the place to be.”
