A Northamptonshire superstar who helps make Christmas special for thousands of children every year has been named as a 'Lockdown Legend' by peri-peri chicken chain Nandos.

For nearly two decades, charity work power house Jeanette has been collecting Easter eggs and Christmas presents every year for the county's most disadvantaged children and families.

Now, high street giant Nandos has picked the Northampton do-gooder as one of their Lockdown Legends for all the 'amazing' work she does.

They really look after their staff.

"My managing director must have nominated me. I'm one of those where I wonder what all the fuss is about. Isn't this what everybody should be doing? I'm not doing it for the glory.

"In 2016, Nandos in Northamptonshire supported my campaign and I was overwhelmed with the quality and generosity of gifts from their staff.

"They've supported my campaign for a few years now and I wanted to give something back so I asked for a job.

"They've been a great family to join. I do it so I can work with people and chitter-chatter while I work."

For nearly two decades, Jeanette has led an annual toy appeal and collects thousands of presents for Northamptonshire's disadvantaged children and young people.

Following the Covid-19 outbreak, this year Jeanette has instead launched a JustGiving page together with the Faraway Children's Charity to raise money for presents instead.
