Fresh food, cooked to order makes Café Marseille a “must eat” destination in Northampton
Co-owner Sergiu Andrievschi moved from Moldova and brought a love of travel and food to his town centre eatery.
He said: “Our restaurant is based on our love story, Aix-en-Provence… it’s our favourite destination and the place we get inspiration from.”
The quality of the food is vitally important to the team, who pride themselves on using fresh vegetables, meat and fruit.
He added: “Our aim is to always cook food on order, only from fresh products and not to use ready or frozen products.
“As a family run restaurant, we believe it is important we deliver fresh and healthy food to customers.”
He added that the choice on offer is designed to attract different tastes: “You can enjoy authentic French classics, as well as a few special dishes from our favourite destinations.
“Café Marseille is the perfect place to relax, with an appealing decor, delicious food and excellent wine.”
Great menu
In the five years since it opened the staff have created what they believe are perfect menus for all occasions.
Brunch choices which are a hit with customers include Paris-style eggs Benedict with croissant, French crêpes and Croque Monsieur.
For lunch there are soups, pasta and salads. The most popular ones being soupe à l’oignon (onion soup), seafood pasta and Caesar salad with prawns.
The restaurant is also well respected for Afternoon Tea and Bottomless Brunch – a popular choice for baby showers.
For dinner, popular starters are roast beef bruschetta, home-made salmon paté and frogs’ legs.
The chefs receive many compliments for main course dishes of duck à l’orange, gratin dauphinoise and chicken casserole.
The deserts not to be missed include crème brûlée, crêpes Suzette and cascade tiramisu.
From offering such a wide menu and with a capacity of 50 people, Café Marseille also offers private hire for ceremonies, birthday parties and other special events. They can also organise special décor and prepare a celebration cake.
Community spirit
The last couple of years was a big challenge for the restaurant because of the Covid lockdowns. To be closer to the community, they started cooking cinnamon buns and delivered them to customers’ doors.
Sergiu said: “We want to make them a little happier while staying at home.”
He added: “As we play our role in our community we also try looking after the little ones, our future.
“For example, we organise events like Cookies for Santa and a Christmas Crafty Party. Children would learn how to make ginger cookies and Christmas decorations.”
