Semilong councillor Les Marriott (Labour) has raised concerns over the volume of traffic in the terraced street.

He said: "While I have no objection to the change in use of this premises to a take away in general terms, I do have concerns in relation to the extra amount of traffic movements, and parking in this location that will be generated if planning permission is given.

"If the premises was to operate on a walk-in trade basis there would be no issue.

"There is already a fish and chip shop trading in close proximity to 90 Salisbury Street on St Andrews Road which generates evening traffic parking problems in the already congested adjacent streets. An extra takeaway so close will just add to this."
