And over the last 12 months, many of those pubs have either undergone major refurbishment or welcomed new owners.
From six figure revamps at well-known, popular pubs, to well-established publicans taking on new venues in villages and quieter parts of town, it is great to see investment being pumped into the watering holes in the area.
Why not pay some of the refurbished pubs a visit over the Christmas and New Year period?
Below are ten pubs in Northampton and beyond, which have undergone refurbishment or welcomed new owners in 2025.

5. The Fish
The pub in a prime Northampton town centre location was taken over by Leigh Dunbar and his son James in October 2025. They said they have "big plans for the pub", which they said has "really good potential". They planned to try live music every week, quiz nights and karaoke. The new owners want to make it a "nice, busy, thriving pub". Photo: -

6. The Queen Adelaide
The Manor Road pub was taken over by Cherelle Cobley, who also runs The Wooden Walls of Old England in Collingtree. The opening night at The Queen Adelaide was in November and Cherelle plans to introduce - or continue - a quiz night, meat raffle and dog of the month. She said: "We’re trying to bring things that keep the community connected and strip it back to basics." Photo: Cherelle Cobley

7. The Whitehills
The Kingsthorpe pub reopened on November 14 after a one-month, six-figure refurbishment. Greene King said the revamp will "modernise the space and enhance its sports offering". The pub’s interior layout has been improved to create a spacious dining area and a dedicated sports viewing area, and sleek new furnishings have been introduced to improve comfort for guests. There is also a new media wall in the sports zone and a new interactive digital darts board. Photo: Greene King

8. The King's Head
The Spratton pub reopened under new ownership on December 3. Their main goal is to create an environment that is "warm and welcoming". They are also looking forward to putting their stamp on the pub and hopefully building up a "successful restaurant with a thriving pub next to it". The menu will be made up of traditional and modern classics prepared by some seriously talented local chefs, the new owners said. Photo: Google
