A pair of three-year-old twins from Northampton will be walking 2.6 miles with their parents to help less-fortunate children get access to education at home.

Ethan and Lucas Cooper have already raised nearly £1,000 for Free2Talk, a charity which supports vulnerable families in Northampton, ahead of their challenge on Sunday (May 10).

Mum Vicki Smith, a nurse at Northampton General Hospital who is on the board for Free2Talk, said the walk is way for her family to do something for the charity.

"We go for daily walks, we're going further and further every day and they love it so we thought it would be good to do a sponsored walk," she said.

"We originally targeted £200 so they've absolutely smashed that."

People across the country have been taking on challenges with some link to 2.6 after the London Marathon was cancelled.

While the exact route is yet to be decided on, the family plans to head towards Round Spinney from their home on Brittons Drive, Overstone, until they reach 2.6 miles.

Vicki said the money they raise will be specifically going towards buying laptops and other items needed by children who are not eligible for a grant from the Government.

"Ethan and Lucas are only three and four months-old so they don't quite get it - I think they think the money is going in their money boxes," she joked.

"But we've talked about people who don't have what they have and they understand they are helping other children, so we're just looking forward to Sunday."
