The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan marked its success with a virtual celebration to mark this year’s Employee Ownership Day that was enjoyed by the business’s 244 employee stakeholders.

Chris McDermott, managing director of The 1:1 Diet, said: “Employee Ownership Day couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time this year as our company begins to rebound from the Covid-19 crisis.

“The challenges we have faced in the last 100 days have been the true test of employee ownership.

“Without our employee stakeholders rising to the occasion in every function across the business, coming on site day-after-day to keep the machines working, or working from home in ways they never thought possible just a few short months ago, we wouldn’t have been in the position we are now.

“I fully expect future generations of people in this company to pinpoint these extraordinary months as the definitive moment that employee ownership proved its worth.

“Being the EOA’s current Business of the Year would have meant nothing if we couldn’t come together like we have done to keep the business going.”

Tyrone Douglas, HR director, said: “These unprecedented times have tested every business and during this time our employee ownership has proven its worth.”
