A drama group in Northampton has produced a video "for all ages" on the issue of child mental health during lockdown.

Theze Guyz was founded by professional actress, Sarah Love, in 2003 and now also has a thriving children's section, with both adults and children performing plays at Victoria Road Congregational Church in Northampton.

But lockdown has not stopped their creativity.

So far, the children's group has performed a virtual Midsummer Nights Dream and the adults have released a video on YouTube of their performance of the Merchants of Venice.

The latest video released this week is entitled, Fowl Language: Lockdown Adventure of Lily and her Three Legged Chicken Friend and tells the tale of how Lily helps her friend overcome issues in lockdown.

Sarah, who also works at Northampton General Hospital as a medical equipment librarian, said the new film was aimed at all ages.

"It is for the young at heart, anyone really, it is a feelgood film," Sarah said.

It was all filmed separately at the homes of the cast members then Sarah edited the videos together to make the finished film before it was published on YouTube. As well as editing the clips, Sarah also had to the voiceover from her son for the film sent in by the puppeteer.

Sarah told the Chronicle & Echo how the Theze Guyz Theatre Company came about.

"I was working in London as an actress and the show I was on came to an end and I thought I've got no work, what shall do?

"I got in touch with people I knew in Northampton to say I was coming back and wanted to carry on acting, so five of us got together and put on a play. It was supposed to be a one-off and now we're coming up to 18 years," Sarah said.

The theatre company puts on a range of different shows, including ones that raise money for charity. Other shows help raise money for costumes and sets.

In a normal year, the children's group would put on about three shows a year and the adults put on as many as time and other commitments allow.
