A four-year-old girl from Northampton surprised her parents when she decided to have most of her hair cut off for children with cancer.

Lola Sargeant asked to have her long blonde locks cut to her shoulders to help 'poorly kids' out of the blue last week.

So her father, Andrew, took her to ShortCuts Children's Salon on Coppice Drive, Spinney Hill, on Saturday (October 24).

They had her ponytail tied at both ends, weighed and sent off to the Little Princess Trust to make wigs for children who have lost their hair through chemotherapy.

Andrew told the Chronicle & Echo: "I was a bit surprised as her hair was so beautiful so us and her grandparents were a bit unsure but when she said what's for you can't disagree with that.

"So she's happy and lives it. There are not many nice stories around at the minute with everything that's going on so if it can help one little kid then happy days."
