The family behind Jeyes Chemist in Earls Barton has launched a special giveaway each week on their Facebook page to tie in with the national Clap for Carers campaign.

Anna Jeyes' daughters, Georgia, 8, and Coralie, 6, put out a call for 'Earls Barton Superheroes' nominations three weeks ago ahead of the first evening of clapping.

It comes as the girls - like other children the same age up and down the country - were left confused about why their lives had drastically changed and they could not see their friends.

After their mum explained why they couldn’t resume their life as usual, they wanted to celebrate the village residents working hard to keep them safe.

As the nominations came flooding in the girls dressed up in capes and put over 200 names in a bag on the first night before picking a lucky winner.

The girls have since drawn and written cards to each superhero and Anna has sent a treat to each of the winners before Apothocoffee shop opens it's doors again to reward them further.

Anna said: "As a Jeyes family this is our small way of saying a big thank you to those going the extra mile to care and help during this time.

"For now, all we can say is 'watch this space as Georgia and Coralie are chasing rainbows to plot their next way of saying thank you to the key-workers of Earls Barton who give so much

love and support to so many'.

"The commitment to their work and our community is invaluable and will influence, shape and be treasured by the younger generation for years to come."

Other businesses who have kindly given their donations from Earls Barton also include Ruby & Claret, Blackwell Beauty, and a voucher has been given by Northampton Tennis Coaching.

The Jeyes shop has been run by three generations of the same family - starting in 1991 by nan Marie, then her daughter Georgina and now by sisters Philippa and Anna.

The shop is part of the Jeyes of Earls Barton heritage museum, which dedicated to the chemist brothers Philadelphus and John Jeyes who created the household brand of Jeyes cleaning fluid.
