Nearly 40 per cent of Chron readers who took part in our latest Lockdown Survey says they are not comfortable sending their children back to school next week.

A total of 527 people responded to the Bank Holiday weekend snap survey on a range of issues related to lockdown.

On sending children back to school: 11% were very comfortable, 10% were somewhat comfortable, 12.5% were not very comfortable and 25% were not at all comfortable. The remained were not sure or it was not applicable.

We asked readers how comfortable did they personally feel about the prospect of doing certain things.

The vast majority were comfortable visiting family and meeting up with a small group of friends.

Returning to work was a mixed picture but the reaction against using public transport was strong.

Visiting family - 34% were very comfortable, 34% were somewhat comfortable, 18% were not very comfortable and 12% were not at all comfortable. The remainder were not sure or not applicable.

Meeting up with a small group of friends - 26.5% were very comfortable, 33% were somewhat comfortable, 24% were not very comfortable and 15% were not at all comfortable. The remainder were not sure or not applicable.

Returning to your place of work - 18.4% were comfortable, 20% were somewhat comfortable, 19% were not very comfortable and 17.6% were not at all comfortable. The remainder were not sure or not applicable.

We also asked to what extent do you think allowing each of the following to take place poses a risk of a second wave of coronavirus infections?

Taking public transport - 40% said there was a very high risk, 33% said a high risk, 20% were a moderate risk and 4% were very low risk

Schools re-opening - 22% were very high risk, 25% were high risk, 29% were moderate risk, 15% low risk and 8% very low risk

Workplaces re-opening - 15.5% were very high risk, 27% high risk, 37% moderate risk, 12% low risk and 6% very low risk

Meeting up with a small group of friends - 9% were very high risk, 18% high risk, 42% moderate risk, 22% low risk and 8% very low risk

Visiting family - 5% were very high risk, 13% high risk, 36.15% moderate risk, 33% low risk, 12% very low risk.
