Towcester Family Hub backs nearly 8,000 local children and families in first year

Towcester Family Hub has marked a successful first year, supporting almost 8,000 children, young people and parents since opening in March 2025 as part of West Northamptonshire Council’s Family Hubs network.

Council figures show the hub welcomed 7,899 users - including 762 young people - and supported 915 families in its inaugural 12 months. Staff delivered 809 hub-led sessions and hosted a further 400 partner-led clinics and drop-ins. The hub’s sensory room was booked 532 times, offering therapeutic play for children with additional needs.

Parents praised the centre for easing isolation and providing tailored support. One told staff the hub “gave me a real boost” during maternity leave; another described it as “amazing” for families with neurodivergent children.

Towcester is one of several in-person hubs across West Northamptonshire, alongside Moulton, Kingsthorpe, Upton, Brackley and Daventry, with plans for more sites in Far Cotton, Weston Favell and Central Northampton. Online services also offer virtual groups, self-help tools and signposting.

Over the coming year the hub will broaden parenting programmes, increase outreach in Brackley, launch new early-years groups for 0–5s and expand targeted support for speech and language, mental health, wellbeing and SEND. The youth offer will also be strengthened with extra outreach and improvements to the youth space.

Councillor Michael Stratton said he was “incredibly proud” and looked forward to building on the hub’s strong foundation.
