Film fans are set for an action-packed summer with a series of blockbusters lined up to be shown on the big screen outdoors.

Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster Jurassic Park heads the new open-air screenings at East Carlton Park.

It is part of this summer’s offering by Luna Flix outdoor cinema, which includes more locations across the county for people to enjoy their favourite films in a new arena.

Event organiser Simon Hopkins said: “I’m delighted the idea has caught on so well.

“Last year, local audiences sold out most of our classic movie shows so it’s great to partner with Kettering’s Boughton House, Wellingborough School, Oundle and East Carlton Park as well returning again to Stanwick Lakes.”

Online booking is now available for all of the summer titles, beginning on Friday, May 27, with three consecutive evenings at Stanwick Lakes.

First up is Spielberg’s 70’s thriller Jaws, followed by Bill Murray’s time-loop comedy Groundhog Day and the ever-popular Abba favourite Mamma Mia.

Mr Hopkins added: “Between May and September, there will be a wide range of well-known films projected in HD onto our seven metre wide screen.

“Luna Flix makes a film night different - it’s a special event sharing the films you love and it’s the outdoors that makes the experience memorable.

“Anyone can go to a multiplex, but enjoying a picnic and sunset adds so much more.

People are invited to relish favourite films as old friends and join in with great songs, it’s about having a good time - such as promoting the classic comedy Monty Python’s Life Of Brian as a quote-along.”

The shows run regularly at weekends until September 24, screening the top films voted for by the public including Ghost, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Life Of Brian, Back To The Future, Pitch Perfect, Labyrinth, Stand By Me, The Blues Brothers, The Shawshank Redemption, and the return of last year’s big hits, Grease, Dirty Dancing, Pretty Woman and Top Gun.

The season concludes with the Disney smash, The Lion King, with all tickets reduced to the child fee.

Tickets can be bought online only with free parking included at all shows.

People are advised that each of the screenings have limited attendance so they should book early to avoid disappointment.
