Northampton as it used to be: 36 delightful pictures of people enjoying - and enduring - the snow in years gone by

With more snow being forecast in Northampton by the Met Office this week, the Chronicle & Echo has delved into the archive for winter pictures from years gone by.

The pictures show children, friends and family enjoying playing in the snow over the years, as well as magical street scenes in the town during heavy snow.

Some of the pictures are taken from our collection of glass negatives, where the captions are very brief.
