Northampton as it used to be: 32 pictures of Remembrance Day parades from years gone by

As Northampton prepares to pay tribute to the fallen this weekend, we’ve taken a look into the archives to find pictures from Remembrance Day parades from the past.

The photographs come from our collection of glass plate negatives from the 1960s and more recently in the last 10 to 15 years ago,

This year, Remembrance Sunday will be marked in Northampton on Sunday November 9 with a large military parade stepping off from the Market Square at 9.30am.

This will be followed by the Divine Service at All Saint’s Church at 10am, and a wreath-laying ceremony in the Memorial Garden of the church. The 2-minute silence will be observed at 11am, and the memorial garden will remain open for the public to lay wreaths and pay their respects.

At around 11.45am the parade will re-assemble.
