LOOKING BACK: Cobblers have the edge in recent clashes with Accrington Stanley

The Cobblers resume their Sky Bet League One campaign on Saturday with a home date against Accrington Stanley (ko 3pm).

The two clubs haven't met for five years, with their most recent clash a 1-0 for Town in Sky Bet League Two in December, 2015.

Marc Richards was the man with the only goal on that occasion, and it maintained a good run of results for the Cobblers against Stanley.

Following their return to the League in 2006, Stanley played Town for the first time in more than 48 years in August, 2009 - but they were soon to become familiar foes.

They would go on to play each other 14 times in the next six-and-a-half years, and it would be the Cobblers who would have the upper hand.

In those 14 encounters, Town won eight, drew three and lost three, with their record against Stanley at Sixfields reading P 7 W 4 D 2 L 1.

Ahead of Saturday's showdown at the PTS Academy Stadium, we have taken a look through photographer Pete Norton's archives and recall those past 14 meetings.
