Northampton General Hospital has announced that it is investing in a new hospital entrance to provide staff, patients and visitors a welcoming reception area.

Located at the current South Entrance, the new reception area will see Costa, Subway, M&S Simply Food and Stock Shop introduced to the hospital.

The entrance, which should be ready by Spring 2021, will also provide a new modern look.

Stuart Finn, director of estates and facilities from Northampton General Hospital, said: “We are really excited to be building a new entrance to the hospital site to provide a better experience for our staff, patients and visitors.

"This new space will provide us with more space than our existing entrance and means that we can also offer a new range of retail outlets for people to enjoy.

“These plans have been in progress for a long time so it’s incredibly exciting to see the building work starting on site to be able to share the plans with our community."

Andy Jones, managing director of Healthcare Retail at Compass Group UK & Ireland, added: “We are delighted to have been awarded this contract, and look forward to working in partnership with Northampton General Hospital and Novinti to deliver a great new space and high quality retail offer for patients, staff and visitors to enjoy.”

Building work is now underway and the hospital's new entrance unveiling will commence in Spring 2021, alongside new Electric Vehicle charging points to support the hospital’s NHS Sustainability Pledge.

The design and build is being carried out by developer Novinti.
