Re-testing of Greencore employees who tested negative still ongoing, says Public Health Northants

A second round of testing that focuses on employees who tested negative originally is still ongoing with Greencore employees.

After nearly 300 colleagues tested positive for the virus at Moulton Park-based Greencore, the company pledged to re-test those who tested negative.

The re-testing started last week and, according to Public Health Northamptonshire, is still ongoing today (August 24).

Once the testing is complete, the health authority has said it will provide an update when it is in a position to do so.

Following the announcement that hundreds of employees tested positive, many people were keen to know how many of the employees, and indeed others who have tested positive across the county, were affected to the point of needing hospital treatment.

However, the data surrounding the number of cases resulting in hospital treatment that the Government and Public Health are releasing only narrows down to regions, not towns or counties..

For the Midlands region, which includes Northamptonshire, the latest data, which refers to Sunday (August 23), reports that nine patients were admitted to hospital in the previous 24 hours.

A total 129 people across the region are in hospital and eight patients are on ventilation.

When asked if this data could be narrowed down to Northamptonshire, the Chronicle & Echo was directed back to the Midlands statistics.
