Eleven friends have shaved their heads at the same time in support of their friend who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in March.

Barber, Ryan Price, from East Hunsbury, was referred by doctors for an MRI scan after suffering with knee pain for one year, which he put down to being on his feet all day at work.

Biopsy results confirmed he had 'ewing sarcoma', a rare type of cancer that affects bones or the tissue around bones, in his shinbone which had also spread to his lung.

The 24-year-old who is undergoing chemotherapy to treat the tumour in his lung, knew he would have to use his barbering skills to cut his thinning hair.

On Wednesday, (May 6), 11 friends joined him on video call to shave their heads to show moral support while also raising vital funds for charity.

As of Monday (May 11), 269 people had helped to raise £4,550 for Sarcoma UK.

Ryan's friend, Sam Lyon, said: "The fundraising has been so important.

"It's not about the money at this point, it's the fact that as the money goes up his spirits go up as well.

"I think it's made him feel the emotional pain less and it made him feel as though something good can come out of the bad.

"Ryan has astounded us all with his strength and bravery during, what can only be described as, the hardest thing that anyone could go through.

"A great friend, whose positivity and happiness always supports those around him, we now come together to support him and Sarcoma UK to raise funds in order to battle this disease."

The friends have called their fundraising campaign, 'Bald With The Boys', and are still taking donations on their GoFundMe page here.
