This week is National Carers Week (June 7 - June 13), which is all about recognising the contribution unpaid carers make to families and communities every day.
Where would we be without our carers? This pandemic has seen challenges for our carers increase ten-fold with many taking on more responsibilities for relatives and friends who need support with illnesses, disabilities or old age.
In a bid to raise awareness of the important and life-changing work they do, we asked our readers to nominate a carer they know to feature in this paper so that Northamptonshire can honour them this week.
To all carers in Northamptonshire, thank you for everything you do.
Here are just a few of the hard-working carers across the county:

5. Elizabeth Harvey
"This lady is truly unbelievable and cares amazingly for her seriously complex son." Elizabeth Harvey is a single mum, whose son was diagnosed with three different genetic conditions and other medical problems. She ran the London Marathon to raise money for the Helen and Douglas House hospice for Children - she raised over £800 in total. Photo: Amy Pittam
"She is only 27-years-old and is a fantastic mum to two boys. She is also a carer, who has worked her butt off for the last five years, sometimes seven days a week including through lockdown covering other nurses' hours, who have been sick. As her friend, I'm so proud of her and she really deserves to be acknowledged for just how hard and motivated she is and how much she cares for everyone and making people be at their best, even if that means giving too much of herself." "Susan Connor, my wonderful mum, she is coming up to 64 this year and works as a carer for the elderly. She is so patient, has so much time for them even though she struggles herself sometimes. She doesn’t let it stop her going above and beyond for the residents and, outside of work, she still puts her family before herself." Photo: Sarah Connor
"She is a nurse and was on frontline when the first pandemic outbreak started and continued to be when needed as well as a mum of two beautiful boys and with a husband who works long hours at sea - also overcame Covid herself. Despite having our mum in hospital with ammonia and was very critical and our dad battling cancer for the second time, she still made a place to make sure other people went home to their families. I'm proud to have her as my big sister and she sure deserves to be acknowledged down here as well as in Plymouth.
She is what made us realise its never too late to do what you want or to be who you want." Photo: Mikala Victoria O'neill
