Around 50 pupils are self-isolating after two positive coronavirus cases at a school in Northampton and three year groups have stayed at home today (Friday, November 6).

Years 10, 12 and 13 at Moulton School and Science College were told not to come in to allow their blocks to be deep-cleaned following the Covid-19 cases.

Those who have been in close contact with the two students to test positive have been self-isolating since Monday and will return to the Pound Lane school on November 16.

The school remains open as normal for the other year groups and head teacher Angela Dabbs insisted they are doing everything possible to make it safe.

"The blocks will be deep cleaned to make them safe for when the pupils return on Monday," she told the Chronicle & Echo.

"We've been vigilant with hand sanitising, bubbles and we've changed the school day to open up more specialist teaching.

"It's an ongoing struggle to keep the school staffed the way we want to and to ensure the children get the best deal possible."
