Sunday's NHS bulletin showed no new Covid-19 victims at Northampton General Hospital.

But the figures come with a note of caution from experts that weekends usually see lulls in the grim numbers of fatalities.

Bulletins issued last Sunday (June 14) and Monday also showed no deaths at NGH. Updated figures later revealed nine victims had died after testing positive for coronavirus at the hospital between Thursday and Sunday.

Information published daily is collated at 5pm the previous day but can reflect deaths up to five days before.

Numbers released on Sundays and Mondays are usually the lowest of the week due to an extra lag in the recording process before deaths are added to the national and local totals.

These weekend figures are then frequently followed by increases in midweek which include victims from previous days.
