A student and staff member at Northampton College's Booth Lane campus have tested positive for coronavirus.

The college has confirmed to the Chronicle & Echo today (Monday)thatindividuals are now complying with self-isolation requirements.

All other students in the affected bubbles will now also be requested to self-isolate for a period of 14 days.

During this time they will be able to continue with their education through the online remote learning system.

Pat Brennan-Barrett, principal of Northampton College, said: “Our first thoughts are with the student and member of staff and any family members affected and we hope they will make a speedy recovery.

“Our duty of care to students and staff is paramount and we have followed robust protocols to minimise the transmission risk through social distancing, high levels of hygiene and a requirement to wear face coverings.

"We will continue to work closely with Public Health and the Department for Education to ensure the continued safety and education of our students and staff.”
